Jitřenka Children’s Folk Ensemble
The children’s group of the Jitřenka Folk Ensemble was re-established in 2023 and brings together children aged 5 to 12. The children learn the basics of folk dance, singing, and rhythm, and become familiar with traditional songs and games, which they then combine into dance suites and perform at various events. Their performances are part of the year-round cultural life of the local community and surrounding area, and they also take part in folk festivals as performers.
The group is led by Tereza Drobná, a long-time member of Jitřenka and a graduate of the School of Folk Traditions at NÚLK. In her work, she incorporates elements of children’s outdoor games and traditional rhymes, which she often arranges rhythmically and sets to music in her choreographies. The repertoire is based primarily on songs from Eastern Bohemia. Nela Uhlíková and Ivana Hamplová assist with rehearsals.
